Description
Why we use them: These are the rods Sharlene and the whole Circles of Hair team use for every perm. We’ve tried every rod, every paper and every perm solution, and these are the ones we keep coming back to. We import them ourselves through our own warehouse in Japan. That’s how serious we are about perms, and now we’re sharing them with you.
NEW EVER’s dedicated long rods for spiral perms, made in Japan by Yasumoto Kasei 安元化成 and renewed to be lighter and easier to use. They give medium to long hair a regular, even wave and open up more perm designs.
Made from NEW EVER’s soft elastic material, they are easy to grip and wind, hard to break if dropped and quiet on the bench. The rods float, so end papers come away easily when rinsing.
Sold in boxes of 10 rods, colour-coded by size. Not readily available in Australia.
How to use
Section medium to long hair in vertical or diagonal sections about the width of the rod. Wrap the ends in a Kisuki Mesh LL or 3L end paper. Hold the rod vertically and wind the strand in a spiral along its length with even tension, without overlapping the hair. Secure with a band across the length of the rod and process as normal. An FSB Stick or Oval Twin Stick under the band prevents band marks.
Recommended band
A size No. 33 rubber band, 89 x 3 mm, from any office supplier.
Perm solution
We use and recommend REF Stockholm perm solution. In Australia you can buy it through Smiths Collective Brands.
